This is a composite of 2 photos I took. The background is from a rusty plow blade on my farm. The picture of the horse was added over the plow layer(base image). I used GIMP program to do the work. I used the smudge tool to give the strands of hair the windblown look. I'll included the original files in another blog entry. I was happy with the way this image turned out. I'm considering printing a copy and taking it to the farm owners where I captured the picture of the horse.

Resurrection
Resurrection, originally uploaded by Jersey Rich.
This is a wild daffodil that was growing by an old building on our farm. I used GIMP (Genu Image Manipulation Program) to clone and colorize the background. I used the quick mask tool to isolate the flower and the border from the background. After colorizing the background I inverted the selection and burned in the edges of the flower to darken them and also used the blur tool to blend it smoothly into the background. As I final step I used the paint tool at low opacity to add a hint of the background color on various areas of the flower. The entire process took about 4hrs to complete. I'm self taught, so most of the time is spent using the undo and redo until I get the combination that I want. I'm happy with the results of this effort.
