This is a wild daffodil that was growing by an old building on our farm. I used GIMP (Genu Image Manipulation Program) to clone and colorize the background. I used the quick mask tool to isolate the flower and the border from the background. After colorizing the background I inverted the selection and burned in the edges of the flower to darken them and also used the blur tool to blend it smoothly into the background. As I final step I used the paint tool at low opacity to add a hint of the background color on various areas of the flower. The entire process took about 4hrs to complete. I'm self taught, so most of the time is spent using the undo and redo until I get the combination that I want. I'm happy with the results of this effort.
